Nothing From Nothing Leaves Nothing

Hello All,

It never ceases to amaze me how some of our Christianly leaders can promote prosperity and Godly gain but forget to explain what it’s really all about- God’s Purpose. Too many times have I found myself vulnerable to the teachings of prosperity and God miraculously changing my life around. Now don’t get it twisted I do know and understand at first hand account about God’s blessing and how he will provide for you but I also know that in order to be a child of God that the road will not be easy and you will have many obstacles that the devil will throw at you. It is only through faith and trusting in the Lord will we prevail through them to into something better. I can remember going through the beginning of my journey for God’s purpose and constantly looking for a way out or an answer to my prayer’s. I can remember one day surfing through the television and stumbling onto a famous prosperity preacher. He started speaking about a miracle just for me and how if I sent him x amount of dollars it would come true. I began looking for money everywhere to scrounge up the amount (and I did) it was then that God taught me a lesson about our relationship. As I waited for this miracle Jesus came to me through the Holy Ghost and stated that he did not intend for me to think that an offering was the absolute answer for my situation. He explained to me that yes he wanted me to depend on him but I did not have to borrow money I did not have to get him to provide (after all he is the great I AM). He stated that my outcome had already been formed and that if I trust in him, seek his counsel daily, and do his will, he would always provide. He immediately sent me a confirmation on this as I was in a Bible book store and there was a plaque that just stood out to me as if it was meant for me. The best part was that it was sold for 22 dollars but I only paid a dollar. I immediately picked it up and bought it to remind me of the message God wanted me to know. The message was “Be still and know that I am God” (Psalms 46: 10, KJV). You see, I thought because a TV preacher had told me it was owed to me as a child of God that prosperity was due. I didn’t even think about the consequences and responsibilities of receiving such blessings would bring. After all, it is an innate trait within ourselves to survive and in that course of survival to do whatever we can to survive. This has been proven in many research articles such as Charles Darwin’s theory. Therefore, in our desperation we want to find a quick out and chose to listen and believe another individual instead of searching for ourselves. Remember God stated to Seek ye first the kingdom and all things shall be added unto you (Matt 18: 24), and for us to “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth” (2 Tim. 2: 15, KJV). Therefore when we learn for ourselves and do what God wills us to do then and only then shall we find peace in the midst of a storm. Just as Jesus was able to sleep at the bottom of the boat during the storm, although the disciples were worried Jesus gave peace to weather the storm. The merit of it all is not what God can do for you but what you can do for God. Just ask any of God’s true Preachers, Evangelists, Missionaries or Children of God- how did they get where they are, what did it take and they will absolute be delighted to tell you their story. It’s not one of easy transitioning and effortless assignments, instead they will speak of how difficult the trial was as God began to prepare and mold them. I wrote this not to discourage anyone but to encourage everyone. To help one to remember that the main prosperity in God is through his purpose. So as you go through this trial some journey just know that he is there preparing you for his own purpose, accept it and the prosperity that he has for you will come and you will be prepared for its responsibility as well. Remember for those of you who wish to be rich and wonder why not me: it is difficult for a rich man to get into heaven as it is for a camel to get through the eye of the needle (which is a place, not a thing!) “Again I say unto you, it is easier for camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God” (Matt. 20: 24). Hey, this will be a great lesson to blog about later, so continue to follow.

May God continue to bless and keep you in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

i am curious what "teachings of prosperity" means? does not 3 John 1:2 tell us-ABOVE ALL ELSE? why do most assume prosperity means money? prospering is prospering-it will unique to each individual. 3 John suggests physical health/prosperity and "soul" prosperity. If money was actually important to most, they would have it. clearly it is not a high value. the "eye of the needle"? was an actual place one physically entered into to get to a town-if you were fat, (prosperous) you would not fit through. does not Romans 14:12-13 tell us each of us will account for ourselves and don't waste time judging your bother? (sister) like Proverbs and splinters and planks. leaders will answer for themselves ultimately. besides, we cannot see what wisdom God has for each of us.

Ah, we meet again my friend. You are ablsolutely correct about prsperity. When God promise us prosperity he does not mean it only in the form of money but in the form of an abundant living. By this it means that we will be taken care of through our needs (food, clothing, shelter and the nourishment of our soul). Yes, I agree that prosperity for some may vary and based upon what you hold properous you are blessed. This also holds true for an individual when they say they would like to be rich. I say this because I can remember when I was teaching a parent of mine came into the classroom to speak with her son and she stated that he needed to stop asking for everything because he was not rich as his teacher (I immediately laughed and stated that I was far from rich) she stated to me that I dove a nice fancy car, lived in a nice condo, and my children were always in very nice clothing. I immediatley began to evaluate myself and my reply to her was that I was blessed. The moral is that what one may take for granted another may perceive it as being rich. I also agree on the judging of one another it takes to much time, energy, and salvation. I enjoyed this comment because it allowed me to reflect on the behaviors that God has asked of us. As for the eye of the needle don't forget that it also spoke of the camel humbling itself in order to get through. I think we all must find humility in order to really understand God's love for us so that we can love others in the same manner. Who better to follow as an example of humility than our own Lord and savior Jesus Christ. Thanks DrMikeFitz
